Government regulations on everything from beer to corn-on-the-cob significantly increase the cost of Independence Day celebrations throughout the United States.
With an infographic titled “Our Regulated Independence Day,” the American Action Forum illustrates just how much hidden regulatory taxes cost Americans celebrating the 4th of July.
According to the AAF tally, there are currently:
- 100 federal regulations that affect hamburgers
- 111 government rules for hotdogs
- 56 federal regulations on corn
- 182 federal rules for beer
- and a whopping 1,673 federal regulations on fireworks
In total, all those government regulations increase the cost of an Independence Day celebration for a family of four by about $40.
