Fairfax sex accuser calls for public hearing

(THE HILL) — Vanessa Tyson, the professor who accused Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax (D) of sexual assault, on Sunday called for a public hearing on the allegations that she and a second accuser made against Fairfax.

“The Virginia people to know who it is that they elected. They need to know. I think the Virginia people, the voters of Virginia, have a right to know both my story and Meredith’s story. I think there should be a public hearing,” she said during an interview set to air on “CBS This Morning.”

Pro-choice students stunned to learn they’re pro-life

Ray Comfort

Ray Comfort

Christian evangelist Ray Comfort, whose Living Waters ministry projects include “God Doesn’t Believe in Atheists,” “Nothing Created Everything” and “Einstein, God and the Bible,” is releasing a new film in which pro-choice students find they’re not as pro-choice as they thought.

In fact, many become pro-life by the time he’s done explaining to them “7 Reasons,” as his new film is titled.

It’s available now for download for a charge and is scheduled to be released on the Living Waters YouTube Channel on Mother’s Day weekend.

Comfort asks students whether they are pro-choice, and most say yes.

But within a few minutes, they’re reversing course.

He asks one student: “Did you change your mind?”

“Actually, you know what? Yeah, I have,” the student says.

See a trailer:

Comfort and the others who created “7 Reasons” believe the movie will change viewers’ stance on abortion.

The 42-minute documentary shows that transformation taking place in man-in-the-street interviews.

“The movie really is a pro-choice politician’s nightmare,” Comfort told WND. “Like millions of others, I was horrified to hear liberals abandon their usual arguments about it not being a baby in the womb, etc., and freely admit that they just want to kill human beings out of convenience. I wanted to produce a film that would change people’s minds about this horrific practice, and ‘7 Reasons’ does just that.”

Abortion has been in the news in recent months.

The Trump administration this week expanded the Mexico City Policy that forbids U.S. tax dollars from being used by overseas abortion providers. Meanwhile, New York state in January adopted a law that effectively allows abortion until birth. A similar Virginia bill failed, but Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam drew attention with his de facto approval of infanticide in a radio interview.

Comfort said that as he speaks with young people about abortion, he is “amazed at both the hardness of heart of some, but of the ignorance of others and tenderness of others.”

“They have no idea what happens with an abortion,” he said. “I ask questions like, ‘If it was your job to kill a baby, what do you think would be the most efficient way to do the job?’”

The students, all confidently pro-abortion at the beginning, change their minds by the end.

“When minds and hearts change, laws change,” the production explains.

“So you’ve changed your mind about abortion?” Comfort asks one student.

“Of course,” the student says.

And then comes the warning for abortion-industry funded politicians.

But will you now vote pro-life?

It’s not the first time Comfort has approached the subject.

In his film “180” just a few years ago, he shows how people can change their minds about abortion in seconds when faced with one question.

James Dobson, founder of FamilyTalk, described it as “powerful stuff.”

“I was deeply moved,” he said.

Comfort is the founder of Living Waters and the bestselling author of more than 80 books, including “God Has a Wonderful Plan for Your Life,” “How to Know God Exists” and “The Evidence Bible.” He co-hosts the award-winning television program “Way of the Master,” airing in almost 200 countries, and is the executive producer of “180,” “Evolution vs. God,” “Audacity” and other films.

Pence: ‘Censorship is the tool of a coward’

(BREITBART) — Vice President Mike Pence spoke at Turning Point USA’s Midwest Regional Conference on Friday, where he told students and activists that “censorship is the tool of a coward” and that there is a “battle over the closing of the American mind” on college campuses today. Pence added that the Trump administration “will not stand idly by and allow public institutions to violate their students’ constitutional rights.”

Tapper defends CNN coverage of Mueller probe

(BREITBART) — Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union,” host Jake Tapper told President Donald Trump’s Acting Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney he was unaware of anything those on his network got wrong while reporting on the Mueller probe.

Mulvaney said, “We need to figure out what went wrong with the Mueller report, why, in all fairness to your network, why the media got it so wrong for so long.”

Journalist goes to jail for offending Muslims

A journalist has been sentenced by a court in Kuwait to three years in jail for two Twitter messages that offended Shiite Muslims.

The Middle East Media Research Institute documents that ‘Abdallah Al-Hadlaq, a reformist who is critical of Iran and Hamas and previously expressed a positive view of Israel, was prosecuted for two tweets in 2018.

He was accused of “fanning controversies among the sectors of society,” meaning the disagreements between Sunni Muslims and Shiites.

He had posted last year one statement that ‘Ali bin Abi Talib, a figure who is thought by Shiites to be “the rightful heir” of Muhammad, and his sons “had caused the Sunni-Shiite divide in Islam.”

The statement explained that ‘Ali bin Abi Talib deliberately had delayed swearing loyalty to the first caliph in Islam, Abu Bakr.

Al-Hadlaq’s articles often appear in the Kuwait daily Al-Watan, but the news publication occasionally has removed them after the fact for the controversies they have stirred.

“Due to his positions, he was included in a list of Arab writers who were called ‘traitors’ and ‘Israel’s ambassadors in the Arab world,’ which was published in 2009 on Arab websites that support the resistance axis. The list was published after, during the Israel-Gaza war in December 2008-January 2009, the Israeli Foreign Ministry published articles by these writers criticizing Hamas and the resistance axis, without the writers’ knowledge or consent,” MEMRI reported.

His writings have included: “The fascist Persian Iranian turbaned regime that rules Tehran … interferes in every single matter, and deposits the country’s resources in the hands of those with whom it is pleased, or those who guarantee its continued existence, primarily the Persian [Islamic] Revolutionary Guards [Corps] [IRGC]. When the sanctions on Iran are lifted, and the billions return to it, the people, who is bowed under the yoke of oppression and poverty, knows that it will receive a mere pittance from it, and that the situation will remain the same or even grow worse.”

He lamented that the wealth of Iran “is not reflected in the lives of its residents; only the tiniest fraction of it reaches their pockets.”

“The men of the Persian regime and the IRGC are the unrivalled leaders of the [economic] battle – while the sanctions have hurt all Iranians, they have greatly benefited the IRGC, because after foreign firms left Iran, much of what they had been doing was taken over by the Persian IRGC, allowing it to increase its influence in the country and to take over the billions belonging to the Iranian people.”

The real enemy of Gulf states is not Israel, he insisted, but Iran.

“To all those who think the Persian state (Iran), and the regime of the Rule of the Imprudent, [namely] the dictatorial fascist Persian regime which controls it, is a friendly country, whereas Israel is an enemy country, I say that a prudent enemy is better than an imprudent one. The state of Israel and its various governments have waged more than five wars with the Arabs, yet never in the course of these wars did Israel think to use its nuclear weapons against its Arab enemies. Conversely, if the Persian state, with its stupid, rash and fascist regime that hides behind a religious guise, ever develops nuclear weapons, it will not hesitate to use nuclear bombs against the Arab Gulf states in the first conflict that arises,” he wrote.

He also opposed Iran obtaining nuclear weapons.

“The terrorist Persian regime is striving to manufacture an atomic bomb. … The international community has placed considerable faith in negotiations with [this regime]. … Is the international community still unaware [of the fact] that Tehran’s fascist Persian regime excels at dragging its feet and at deceiving the world and leading it astray with futile illusions and false hopes, while at the same time proceeding with its illegitimate nuclear activities? How long can [the international community] rely solely on negotiations with the Persian side, especially after the Persian regime in Tehran has ordered the Revolutionary Guards to make preparations for an all-out war in the Middle East?”

He also calls Hamas a terror group.

“When terrorist organizations, including Hamas, fire mortars and rockets from the Gaza strip on cities in the Israeli south and kill innocent women and children, the misleading media call it ‘resistance’ or ‘refusal’ or ‘jihad operations,’ but when Israel attacks these organizations’ military and security installations inside the Gaza Strip in order to stop this terroristic firing of mortars and rockets, the media call Israel’s self-defense ‘aggression.’ These media outlets continue to discriminate and to call things by false names. They call the Israeli victims ‘casualties’ while Palestinian victims in the Gaza Strip are called ‘martyrs.’ These media outlets do not hesitate to deceive when they call Hamas’s attacks on innocent civilians in Israel’s southern cities ‘a right of the Palestinian resistance and jihad movements,’ while calling Israel’s defense of its people ‘the Israeli occupation army’s aggression towards Gaza.’”

Rape crisis center bans men, gets defunded

The city council of Vancouver, British Columbia, is defunding a rape crisis center for women because it won’t allow men on its premises.

The council decided the Vancouver Rape Relief and Women’s Shelter will get no more city funding “until it accommodates men who identify as women,” the Daily Telegraph of London reported.

The shelter, opened in 1973, is Canada’s oldest rape crisis center. It prohibits men from its facilities to provide protection to women who are in crisis.

The shelter said the Vancouver City Council’s decision “is intended to coerce us to change our position and practice of offering some of our core services only to women who are born female.”

“Our organization’s status as an equality-seeking group and our entitlement to serve women who are born female was reaffirmed by the Supreme Court of British Columbia in 2003, by the British Columbia Court of Appeal in 2005 and by the Supreme Court of Canada in 2007,” the organization explained.

But the council is trying to “undermine our autonomy as a women’s group – to decide who we serve, who our membership is and who we organize with,” and that “also undermines the protections the law has granted us.”

“Such conduct has no place in a democratic society,” the shelter said.

It also noted the city still provides grants to other organizations that “support specific groups.”

“Rightfully, none of these groups [has] been challenged with the demand that they demonstrate ‘accommodation, welcomeness and openness to people of all ages, abilities … and ethnicities.’ Such a demand of these organizations would be incomprehensible, as it would contradict the essence and purpose of their work. Yet, this is what is being asked of us under the guise of inclusivity,” the shelter said.

Already, the shelter has helped nearly 46,000 women “seeking our support in their escape from male violence.”

“More than just providing immediate safety, we offer a place to group, analyze, strategize and fight back against male violence,” the shelter said. ” … Our services are available to all women who have experienced male violence. We provide assistance to women and girls in prostitution who have been assaulted by johns, pimps or men pressuring them into prostitution. We provide assistance to women who are currently being prostituted, women who are trying to escape prostitution, and women who have been trafficked into prostitution.

“Being girls and women in this world often impacts both how we look and how we act in private and in public; what we are allowed to do, encouraged to do and rewarded for; and also what we are discouraged from doing, prohibited to do or punished for. And from that place, in a woman-only space, with other women, who have the shared experience of being born without a choice to the oppressed class of women we come together to organize and strategize our resistance and our fight for women’s liberation.”

Shelter spokeswoman Hilla Kerner affirmed the organization will not change its position, the Vancouver Star reported.

“Most of our services are based on that principle. Our consciousness raising work” our support group, our peer counselling work and that means that some of our services are not available to people who are not born female,” she said.

The reason Democrats hate Electoral College

Left-wing candidates for president are lining up to call for the elimination of the Electoral College.

That’s the constitutional system through which small-population states retain influence in a national election.

Many Democrats want to elect the president with a national popular vote.

One such individual is Democratic hopeful Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

“We need to make sure that every vote counts,” she said recently. “The way we can make that happen is that we can have national voting and that means get rid of the Electoral College and everybody … I think everybody ought to have to come and ask for your vote.”

Democrats have complained that their candidate lost in 2000 and 2016 despite accumulating more popular votes nationwide.

But Timothy Snowball, a constitutional attorney with the Pacific Legal Foundation, contends “the justifications for the Electoral College are just as valid now as they were in 1788.”

“It is a system that respects individual states as sovereign units within our larger federal system.”

He says that’s precisely why activists hate it.

The problem with a national popular vote, he says, is that “the most heavily populated parts of the country are clustered on the coasts, and maybe Texas or Florida.”

“If we got rid of the Electoral College, candidates for president would have no reason to campaign in Iowa, Michigan, Nebraska, or any of the other 47 states. Instead, they would be focused on courting the coasts, while picking up the two or three other medium sized areas to put them over the numerical top.”

It takes 270 Electoral College votes to win, because there are 538 electors.

A plan to have the nation ruled by California and New York would have “horrified” the writers of the Constitution, he argues.

“The Framers, who had just fought a desperate war for their independence from Great Britain, were extremely suspicious of executive power. So not only did they attempt to limit the power of the presidency in the Constitution, but to make sure that the election of the president would not be dependent on the whims, passions, and prejudices of the electorate. It is specifically designed to be anti-democratic,” he writes.

“Those who are calling for the repeal of the Electoral College (or for packing the Supreme Court, or for basing the U.S. Senate on population instead of equal suffrage), do not oppose it because it is not working. They oppose it because it is working,” he says.

“They don’t like the Electoral College because it frustrates their efforts to elect radical politicians to the office of the presidency who are outside the mainstream of traditional American political thought. But that was the whole point.”

Death threats after gal tells students to ‘grow up’

(THECOLLEGEFIX) — A Wake Forest University student has received death threats and been called a “Nazi” on Twitter for mocking the university’s outsized response to a “build a wall” joke on Instagram.

Other Twitter users “called my employer and my school, found my Facebook and LinkedIn accounts, reported my twitter [for violation of terms], and have actively been advocating for me to get fired and expelled,” Jordan Lancaster told The College Fix in a Twitter message.
