Internet news powerhouse Matt Drudge is lashing out again at the Republican Party in defense of President Trump, suggesting in a tweet that the GOP deserves to lose the Georgia special election as punishment for doing “so little to help the new president.”

The online newsman held nothing back as he punctuated his angry jab with a single word: “BURN.”

The special election in Georgia’s 6th Congressional District between Democrat Jon Ossoff and Republican Karen Handel is being looked at by many as a referendum on Trump’s presidency.

Drudge has been tweeting out his frustration with Republican lawmakers in recent months over their failure to buckle down and push Trump’s agenda through Congress. He even suggested suing Republicans for failing to make tax cuts and the repeal of Obamacare a priority.

As WND reported, the media titan also lashed out at the president’s advisers recently, claiming those leaking information to news media are “deliberately sabotaging” his presidency.

“Major house cleaning needed for survival,” he warned.

Handel and Ossoff are locked in a bitterly fought contest in which national Democrats have poured millions of dollars into Ossoff’s campaign – 97 percent of which is funded by out-of-state donors.

A day after a group of Republican congressmen were shot at by a Democrat activist in Virginia, Handel and some of her neighbors were sent threatening letters calling her a “dirty fascist” and containing a suspicious white-powder substance.

The FBI is investigating.

Handel is the former secretary of state for Georgia and a former county commissioner from Roswell. Ossoff, who just turned 30 on Feb. 16, touts himself as a documentary filmmaker and former congressional aide to Rep. Hank Johnson, D-Ga.

The runoff election is scheduled for June 20.
