Why even be a Republican?

Conservatives are growing increasingly perturbed by the Trump administration’s seeming willingness to give in to Democrat demands as it advances its ambitious agenda. The repeated concessions have some pundits and lawmakers openly questioning why, with a governing majority, GOP campaign promises keep getting watered down.

During an interview with Vice President Mike Pence earlier this week, conservative radio superstar Rush Limbaugh pointed out that there’s very little conservative about the Trump administration’s $1 trillion budget deal.

He asked the vice president: “What is the point of voting Republican if the Democrats are gonna continue to win practically 95% of their objectives?”

Pence heralded military budget increases as the win  Republicans should recognize.

For true conservatives, however, more wasteful military spending is not a win at all.

And even for an establishment guy like Limbaugh ,the military spending increase represents little more than a god bargain between Democrats and RINOs.

“There isn’t anything of the president’s agenda in this budget, and people are beginning to ask, when’s that gonna happen?” Limbaugh asked. “If you’re gonna shut it down in September, why not now? If you complain about 60 votes today, why not go budget reconciliation for 51 votes and smoke ’em?”

The talk show host was referring to Trump tweets explaining why his deal appears as such a grand bargain for Democrats… because he needs 60 votes.

But Limbaugh isn’t the only one recognizing that the administration seems to be rolling over pretty easily on a number of issues.

Many Republicans are worried that unless the Senate enacts some real reforms in the healthcare repeal just pushed through the House, the GOP will lose its legislative majority.
